There are 5 colors concluded that show different water content. They are applying to different species of young plug plants based on plants' features. 
1. Almost dry in white but not off the cell
The upper layer of the substrate has dried out, the lower layer of the substrate remaining a small amount of water, water content of less than 60%
2. Black in white
The upper layer of the substrate contains less than 60% water, but the lower layer contains nearly 60% water
3. White in black
The water content of the substrate starts at less than 60% on the surface and reaches 60% below the surface.
4. All in Brown
Overall water content of the substrate between 60-80%.
5. All in black
The overall water content of the substrate is more than 90%, and if there is open water on the surface it indicates that it has reached 100%.
